An arts and crafts amethyst festoon necklace. Featuring a central shield, with a beaded border and hammer finish, and a square pierced metal work centre set with an oval cut amethyst. Hanging from the shield is a pear cut amethyst, bezel set in silver. The pendant hangs from a fixed chain, with a festoon style double attachment.

This necklace is from the Jugendstil movement of Austria and Germany, which ran parallel to the Arts and Crafts movement in the UK. The pendant is attributed to Christian Seybold, a German designer known for his craftsmanship and hand finished details.
