An Arts & Crafts enamel landscape brooch, signed Murrle Bennett & Co. The centre of the brooch contains a scenic image in polychrome enamel depicting a landscape. The scene is surrounded by hammer finished silver, with scroll detailing on either side. The reverse of brooch also enamelled with roman numeral 'VIII' in the centre.
This brooch is attributed to Charles Fleetwood Varley, a talented Arts & Crafts jeweller and enameler known for his beautifully detailed landscape scenes. Most of his work can be found on objects, such as boxes, and so it is very special to have a wearable scene in a brooch such as this.

A Victorian gold bracelet. Featuring textured close curb links, the bracelet is finished with a finely crafted solid gold axe motif, adding a distinctive touch to this substantial piece. Each link is hallmarked for 18ct gold and dated dated 1858–59.
This bracelet dates to the late 1850s, during the height of the Victorian era, a period celebrated for its elaborate symbolism and devotion to intricate goldsmithing. Jewellery from this time often carried hidden meanings and motifs. The axe in this bracelet symbolises strength and protection. The piece is solid, with an incredible heft, and each link is dated 1858–59. The bracelet’s texture is what makes it extraordinary, every surface catches the light giving the gold a living quality. The gold axe charm adds a unique sculptural element, turning a piece of fine jewellery into a statement of character and story. This piece is handmade, and an incredible example of the period.

The square-shaped pendant centres on an old cut diamond and is surrounded by four pear cut sapphires, diamond set foliates, and a frame of seed pearls. The pendant is suspended from a diamond set foliate bar, and further sapphire and pearls. The necklace is finished with a fine figaro link chain.
This fine piece is a testament to French craftsmanship from the Belle Époque era. Dating from 1870 to 1914, jewellery from this time is distinguished by intricate craftsmanship and use of luxurious materials. Common motifs include floral patterns, garlands, bows, and delicate lace-like designs.

An antique fleur-de-lys pin. Featuring a fleur-de-lys set with twenty-one seed pearls, attached to a yellow gold pin.
The fleur-de-lys was depicted on the traditional coat of arms of France, from the middle ages through to the French revolution. The symbol came back for brief periods during the 19th Century, about the same time this pin was made. This brooch is beautifully made, with bright seed pearls.

This necklace is from the Jugendstil movement of Austria and Germany, which ran parallel to the Arts and Crafts movement in the UK. The pendant is attributed to Christian Seybold, a German designer known for his craftsmanship and hand finished details.

Murrle Bennett & Co were an Anglo-German Arts and Crafts jewellery wholesaler who originally sold their pieces at Liberty London. Notable for their striking designs, it is rare to find pieces in 15ct gold, as they’re usually known for 9ct gold or silver. This brooch is a very striking piece with strong lines.
