A pair of late Georgian / early Victorian amethyst drop earrings. Featuring a pair of large pear cut amethysts, hanging with articulation from an oval cut amethyst and a further amethyst stud. The stones are surrounded by gold filigree and embossed scrollwork, with a closed back typical of the era. The earrings have been adjusted with modern screw back fittings.
These glorious earrings are a fabulous colour, with rich red and purple tones running through the stones. The earrings themselves make a huge statement when worn, with the gold borders highlighting the rich hues of the amethysts.
