A pre-Columbian Diquis turtle bell in high carat gold, the rounded carapace forms a hollow rattle, with a serpent-form tail and pronounced clawed feet extending at the sides. The head is detailed with an openwork beaded mouth and rimmed eyes, with two suspension loops beneath the forelegs.

Typical of Diquis metalwork, it would have been both ornamental and ceremonial, with the internal rattling adding subtle sound when worn.
