A vintage Cartier lipstick brush, in its original box. Featuring a solid yellow gold pencil-like tube, that folds out to reveal a lipstick brush. The brush is made up of the original bristles.

The 1930s and 1940s saw a large rise in fine makeup brushes, compacts, and other everyday necessities. The trend dates back to the 1920s, when fully made up faces came into fashion, and every well equipped woman would need to touch up her make up on the go. Of course, as demand grew, fine jewellery Maisons like Cartier would make these wonderful, practical items in solid gold for their clientele. This clever lipstick brush folds in, to protect the bristles and the ready applied lipstick while on the go.
