Antique, Diamond Sun Brooch

An antique sun brooch-pendant. Centred around a rose cut diamond, six claw set in yellow gold. The diamond is surrounded by twenty undulating spokes radiating out in a sun motif. The brooch is finished with an adjustable bail, which allows the piece to be worn as a pendant.

The Victorians loved using symbolism in their jewellery. The sun, as well as the stars and the moon, has inspired humans for millennia. Sun motifs are thought to represent hope and renewal; stemming from the thought that although the sun sets every day it will rise again.
