A pair of micro mosaic and diamond earrings. Featuring a heart shaped micro mosaic, depicting three pink roses on a bed of green leaves, framed by a light pink background. The mosaic is surrounded by a yellow gold border and hangs from a single round brilliant cut diamond at the top of the heart. The earrings have a brushed gold finish throughout and are fitted with a fixed, fish hook and French back.
Micro mosaic was a technique developed in Italy, and involves making impossibly small mosaics to be worn in jewellery. The practice was very popular in the 18th & 19th Centuries, especially as souvenirs of the Grand Tour. These modern masterpieces are a wearable piece of modern art, and have been handmade in Italy.
