An opal and diamond pendant. Featuring a free-form cut boulder opal, set in a yellow gold border with forty round brilliant cut diamonds on one edge. The pendant hangs from an open gold work chain, depicting Australian motifs. The motifs include kangaroos, snakes, boomerangs, flowers, and fish. The chain is fashioned as a full necklace, with albert clasps on each end, allowing the suspended pendant to be removed.

This stunning piece is intricately designed, with outstanding detail. We suspect the chain is handmade, with etching, engraving, and extra detail differing from link to link and on the reverse on the same link. The opal in this necklace is a wonderfully large stone, with strong red and orange colouring. A one of a kind, vintage necklace.
