A Victorian gold bracelet. Featuring textured close curb links, the bracelet is finished with a finely crafted solid gold axe motif, adding a distinctive touch to this substantial piece. Each link is hallmarked for 18ct gold and dated dated 1858–59.
This bracelet dates to the late 1850s, during the height of the Victorian era, a period celebrated for its elaborate symbolism and devotion to intricate goldsmithing. Jewellery from this time often carried hidden meanings and motifs. The axe in this bracelet symbolises strength and protection. The piece is solid, with an incredible heft, and each link is dated 1858–59. The bracelet’s texture is what makes it extraordinary, every surface catches the light giving the gold a living quality.
